Downturn In Renewable Investments for EU?

Historically, Europe has been leading the charge in wind and solar for many years. However, since 2011 they have reduced their clean energy investments "considerably"..... What's going on with this?

Could it be that the European leaders have changed course on alternative energy..an unlikely thing. There is the possibility that economics is playing a part in the decision to reduce investments. Anti terrorism is on the mind of all our world leaders and perhaps they are directing more finance and resources in this direction...a move you could not blame them for. There does not appear to be one clear cut answer, but it is certainly puzzling.

For a period of time the UK was lagging behind the pack on renewables. More recently they have shown great achivements in on-shore and off-shore wind along with a growing array of solar projects. However, along came the Conservatie (party) government and within a short period of time made their focus of gas and pro-nuclear power with less support for wind and weaker policy on coal. Unfortunately, this could put the brakes on future renewable projects for the UK.

The big question...Can Europe be a leader again in renewables....remains to be seen.
