Global Classroom: Building Resilient Cities - Energy Systems
Resilient Cities:
Building Resilient Energy Systems
We invite you to join us for a summer evening series presented by the World Resources SimCenter in partnership with the World Affairs Council, United Nations Association, The Equinox Center and the SDSU Geography Department.
- July 10-
Building Resilient Energy System
With Subject Matter Expert -Len Hering, RADM, USN (Ret.) of California Center for Sustainable Energy
The world today depends on fossil fuel for our primary source of energy. The overwhelming use of fossil fuels from all over the world is one of the largest contributors to climate change. Climate change has caused droughts, floods, high toxicity levels in oceans, an increase in temperature all over the world, and has caused many species to go extinct.
To help set back the rate of greenhouse gas emissions, our community must start looking at cleaner and more renewable energy sources. Join us to learn more about what San Diego can do to lessen our dependence on fossil fuels and start relying more on cleaner sources of energy.
We invite you to bring your expertise and add your content during the Q & A . . . We learn better, together.
What in the world is going on?
How do we solve the big global challenges facing our world?
Resiliency is about cities adapting to the change that is occurring in our climate and preparing against future catastrophic events.
- How do we prepare for more flooding and increasing drought and wildfires?
- How do we prepare for sea level rise and spreading infectious disease?
- Will we see climate refugees and food shortages?
