The San Diego Unified School District Board will be considering and voting on a resolution asking CalPERS and CalSTRS, California’s two huge pension funds which cover retirement funds for SDUSD teachers and staff, to divest from fossil fuels.

Last year the California legislature called on PERS & STRS to divest from coal (SB 185). This would extend divestment to companies whose main business is in oil and natural gas.
