Join us for a national day of action that brings together advocates for racial, economic, environmental, and climate justice. We’ll join a march that is about 1.4 miles long starting at the Federal Building and ending by City College around 7:30 pm (the route is south on Front to Market, east on Market to 11th Ave, north on 11th Ave to A Street).

Meeting time and location for the Environmental and Climate Justice Contingent:

We’ll meet starting at 4:30 pm at the lawn on the north west corner of Front and F Streets (south side of the Federal Building) to distribute signs and organize ourselves. We’ll leave the gathering area about 4:45 pm to get in place as a contingent in front of the Federal Building.

Environmental and Climate Justice Action

As part of the environmental/climate justice components we are focusing on the climate, environmental justice and public health implications of local transportation choices (with Roddy Jerome, a volunteer with the Environmental Health Coalition), as well as standing in solidarity with Standing Rock to support indigenous rights and oppose the Dakota Access Pipeline (with speakers Bobby Wallace of the Barona Band of Mission Indians and the Kumeyaay Nation and Gina Tiger-Madueno of the Hunkpapa Lakota Nation, and Gerald Danforth of the Oneida Nation – leading a round dance).

This will take place around 6:30-7 pm on 11th Avenue near C Street, so if you can’t make it by 5:30 pm, plan on joining us along the route or at this specific action.

Local musical artist Odessa Kane will perform along the route.

Bring signs, banners, and bullhorns – Together we will send a clear message that any efforts to block wage increases, gut workers’ rights, deport immigrants, destroy our planet and communities, or support racism or racist policies, will be met with unrelenting opposition.
