Join us for the SanDiego350.org August Membership Meeting located at St Paul’s Cathedral. This is a great way to learn what SanDiego350.org is working on, how you can get involved, and to meet like-minded climate activists.

The August meeting will feature a presentation by Serge Dedina, Executive Director of Wildcoast.

WiLDCOAST protects and preserves coastal ecosystems and wildlife in the Californias and Latin America by building grassroots support, conducting media campaigns and establishing protected areas. sdedinaAs the Co-founder and Executive Director of WILDCOAST, Serge  Dedina has helped to preserve more than three million acres of coastal and marine ecosystems since 2000. He received the 2009 San Diego Zoological Society’s Conservation Medal as well as the California Coastal Commission’s “Coastal Hero” Award. Before Co-founding WILDCOAST, Serge was the former founding director of The Nature Conservancy’s Baja California-Sea of Cortez Program. He grew up in Imperial Beach, California, and spent his childhood helping to preserve the Tijuana Estuary as a National Wildlife Refuge. He has worked on water quality issues in the San Diego-Tijuana region since 1980.  He received a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Texas at Austin, a M.S. in Geography from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a B.A. in Political Science from the UC San Diego. Serge is an avid surfer, swimmer, and former State of California Ocean Lifeguard and has lived and studied in France, Spain, El Salvador, Mexico, and Peru. Serge is the author of Saving the Gray Whale, a book based on the three years he lived in the gray whale lagoons of Baja California, and Wild Sea: Eco-Wars and Surf Stories from the Coast of the Californias.
