Yearly Comparison of Cyber-Crime Complaints

A good majority of the victims include older generations who are not as tech-savvy or knowledgeable of the dangers of the internet.  The different types of crime are as follows: FBI impersonation, loan intimidation, automobile-auction, romance scams, work-from-home scams, overpayment, identity theft, advance fees, non-auction and non-delivery of merchandise.

As e-commerce becomes more popular, consumers become more susceptible to cyber-crime.  In this cartoon, a man is pretending to be from the utility company and would like to confirm important information.  In some cases, scammers already have information such as a potential victim's social security number and credit card number simply by using the internet.

This iamge is of the OECD which stands for Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. In 2000 the OECD released a set of guidelines for Consumer protection in regards to electronic eommerce.
