Dr. Ward Fleri has over 16 years experience successfully managing scientific and software projects and working in a variety of scientific domains. He has effectively bridged the gap between management and technical responsibilities, exercising strong organizational and management skills. His key strengths include project management, organization and leadership, and creative and effective problem Dr. Ward Fleri’s passion is to use his organizational and analytical skills in a scientific arena to solve complex problems, benefit others, and advance knowledge. He has over 20 years experience successfully managing people and projects in a variety of scientific domains, including aerospace, remote sensing, and bioinformatics. He effectively bridges the gap between management and technical responsibilities, exercising strong organizational and management skills. He works through difficult situations and achieves common goals using tact, diplomacy, and strong interpersonal skills. His background includes a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate from the Project Management Institute.

Dr. Fleri is a senior project manager at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology (LIAI) where he manages the Immune Epitope Database, a large bioinformatics database project funded by the National Institutes of Health. The data are freely available online for researchers to use to develop new vaccines, diagnostics, and therapeutics. Dr. Fleri spent three years as the project manager for the Protein Data Bank at the San Diego Supercomputer Center at UC San Diego, and prior to that he spent 17 years at a small aerospace R&D firm in San Diego, where he led the Software Engineering Group and managed numerous projects. He has work experience in developing oil reservoir simulations and he performed postdoctoral work at Brown University investigating climate change. Dr. Fleri received a B.A. cum laude in Mathematics and Physics from Williams College, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University.
