RENEWABLES INTERACTIVE MAP
The REN21 Secretariat Team
The topic of ‘energy’ has gradually moved over the last decades to the very top of the international political agenda. Renewable energy, in particular, has received high attention as a potential ‘win-win’ option in both the environment and development arenas. Combined with growing attention, a rapid expansion and development of renewable technologies, finance possibilities, policies and targets is occurring. As a result, information and knowledge exchange about ongoing renewable energy development on national, regional and global scales is desirable for further advancement.
For accessing renewable energy knowledge, REN21 has developed a web-based interactive tool to guide users through relevant and ratified renewable energy information. The REN21 Renewables Interactive Map is a research tool for tracking the development of renewable energy worldwide. It offers a streamlined method for gathering and sharing information on economic development and policy frameworks in the field of renewable energy. In conjunction with the Renewables Global Status Report (GSR) the Renewables Interactive Map offers an updated, interactive, and user friendly picture of the global status of renewables.
The REN21 Renewables Interactive Map offers a user focused platform for displaying information depicting the development of renewables worldwide. Information presented within the Map is compiled from a variety of reports, databases, news announcements, specific enquiries with official authorities, and other sources. These sources are used to provide the most accurate and up to date information on renewables policies, targets, shares, installed capacity, production, and policies.
The search features of the Map are designed to allow for the easiest possible access to the sought after information. The Map allows for searches by technology or sector through the search window found at the bottom of the map, or by the selection of a specific country.
